The Brain Gym® program is based upon 26 simple movements that are used to help improve one’s ability to learn, process information, adapt to the surrounding world in a pleasant and effective way, and to discover or rediscover the joys of learning and the motivation needed to reach goals. It was created by Paul Dennison and was one of the first tools of Edu-kinesiology to be developed.
By assisting the integration of the body and the mind, Brain Gym® movements help to:
- Stimulate each individual’s learning abilities
- Manage stress
- Improve:
- concentration
- memory
- balance
- physical coordination
- writing & reading
- organisation skills, etc.
- Enhance learning and performance in all areas
The Brain Gym® method teaches each of us, of all age groups and abilities, to grow alongside our objectives, dreams and challenges.
In a session, Brain Gym® will be incorporated into working towards a specific goal or intention you may have, or into addressing any imbalances alive within you at the time.

There is a link between the body movements used in Brain Gym® and the different functions of our brain. In any learning situation, regardless of age, we need to use our senses to understand, memorize and integrate new information. Learning is a whole-body process and if any stress occurs we become unable to reach our full potential.
Gail and Paul Dennison established specific movements that allow stress to dissipate, thereby enhancing any/all kinds of learning. Different elements are then considered, for example, the individual’s posture and emotional or energetic state.
In Brain Gym®, it is suggested to consider the brain through three dimensions:
- Laterality (linked to communication)
- Centering (linked to organisation)
- Focus (linked to comprehension)
